Poem - Lake Eden
It's always a bright joyful place
You know you're there when you see the bright sparkling blue water
You enter a garden by the lake
Soon reaching the path by the lake
Little birds are chirping and flitting about up in the trees
Bearded Dragons small to big offer a friendly welcome letting you know this is their home you have come to
As you walk by the water you see some water birds, water wren with their black and dark blue bodies and red beaks.
They honk to eachother
Talking to their loved ones
And they are just always foraging on the edge of the lake
You pass quaint peaceful quiet little apartments next to the lake
Each With their own lovely little garden
You pass under tall shady trees that block out a lot of light
Walking through a more open space by the lake you find more bearded dragons of all sizes sunning themselves on the grass next to the garden beds
You see a lot of colourful water plants here in the distance, taking over some of the lake.
With the deep blue sparkling water of the lake by your side, vibrant tall green trees and garden beds around you, and the bright blue sky with soft white clouds and the sun shining in the distance, you are very charmed by the beautiful view and think, "what a wonderful connection to nature."
Soon you reach a boardwalk with benches to sit on to admire the beautiful view of the huge lake.
You remember not long ago seeing an Australian water rat here and we're so delighted as you had never seen this creature before.
He was so busy when you had seen him, swimming around, maybe looking for food or building a nest. And he seemed very friendly, not afraid of people going by at all.
You reach the next boardwalk that crosses the end of the lake.
"Clod, clod, clod, " is the sound you hear as you walk across the wooden planks of the boardwalk.
You love running your hands along the wooden boardwalk railing as you walk.
You see some waterbirds foraging around the big areas of water plants at this part of the lake and see a couple of beautiful green dragonflies by the water.
As you keep walking around the other side of the lake now, you pass some fellow friendly walkers that say hi and pass beautiful houses.
You walk across another boardwalk over a big pond next to the lake, filled with waterplants with fluffy flowers. "Clod, clod, clod, " goes the boardwalk.
Walking past more trees and gardens next to the bright sunny lake, you pass another boardwalk lookout over the lake. It's another beautiful view of the lake here, good for a picnic, and you see some common brown ducks floating around here in the water, looking as though they have peaceful happy little smiles on their faces.
You keep walking on the path by the lake, in between more gardens and tall trees, and remember you had seen a snake here once, that quickly slithered out of the way into the gardens.
Looking to the right, across the deep blue water and bright blue skies, you see the cafe over the other side of the lake, a favourite meeting spot for many people.
You reach the bridge at the other side of the lake and start to walk across it.
Cars drive by over the bridge, as you look out to the huge lake and the beautiful view all around it.
Over the railing, you see big fluffy green water plants beneath the water surface, and suddenly you spot a big eel swimming in the water depths.
You think the eel is cute but just hope it's friendly.
You start walking around the other side of the lake, slowly walking past an open lawn area with tall palm trees in a straight row in front of a curving half covered walkway around the lawn area with bench seats dotted along it. You pass another friendly local that says hi with a kind smile on their face.
You reach the gathering area of the lake, where markets are held and there is a few wide shallow step ledges along the lake here that you always walk down and walk along the lowest ledge right next to the water.
You pass another lookout over the water and curving sandstone levels and steps built into the lawn to the right. Finally here is your favourite part of the lake, just past the lookout here... The duck and swan feeding area. There is some people gathered around here watching and feeding the ducks and swans. One swan is out of the water by the path, totally comfortable with people, and the other beautiful Black Swan is in the water with 3 small fluffy grey swanlings nearby. There must be about 30 or so ducks here of a few different types. And of course, not only ducks and swans are here but many very very cute happy little turtles are always here too, swimming around and loving poking their heads out of the water all the time to say hi to people and be curious about them All the ducks and swans are so happy with their peaceful life here and meeting lots of friendly people all the time. Sometimes you love to just sit here and watch the ducks and swans and be in their company.
Past the duck and swan area you walk past the cafe with more lovely gardens and a big red flowering tree right by it, along more boardwalk here by the water and going past the cafe.
You are finished with your walk and it's time to go home but you know you'll come back, and sometimes you'll have photos of the lake to share with friends and loved ones.
